  • How to transfer data from Android to iOS?

In order not to lose your notes, you should use the backup feature frequently, since we don’t have an option to automatically back up your diary notes on other platforms. When you have created a backup, we recommend you to keep that ZIP file on some other devices, SD card or on the cloud in case something happens to your phone.

The following steps will show you how to back up your notes:

  1. On your Android device in the bottom navigation bar, press ‘Settings’ and click ‘Backup and restore’.
  2. Click ‘Quillio iOS data transfer’
  3. Then click Export .ZIP file and all your notes will be zipped in the Downloads folder named QuillioBackupAndroidToiOS [current date].
  4. Send that ZIP file to the iOS device.
  5. Once the ZIP file is received, move it to directory On My iPhone.
  6. Open the Quillio app on the iOS device, click on Import .ZIP file and choose that file.
  7. The data transfer is completed.

Note: Be aware that the diary notes will be transferred without text formatting. This feature is available from Android version 3.09.4 and iOS version 1.0.3.

  • How can I back up my notes on an Android device?

In order not to lose your notes in case something happens to your phone, you should use the backup feature frequently, since we still don’t have an option to automatically back up your diary notes. If you have created a backup, you can retrieve it on any other device.

The following steps will show you how to back up your notes:

  1. In the bottom navigation bar, press ‘Settings’ and click ‘Backup and restore’.
  2. Click ‘Google Drive’ or ‘Dropbox’ backup
  3. In this step, you will need to sign in to your ‘Google Drive’ or ‘Dropbox’ account. If you don’t have an account, you can sign up
  4. After you sign in, you will need to allow ‘Google Drive’ or ‘Dropbox’ to create and access the folder where your notes will be stored
  5. In the new window choose the first option ‘Create backup’
  6. After a few seconds your backup will be saved.

Note: If you are already connected to your account, steps 4 and 5 will be skipped. Only if you use option ‘Logout’, you will need to repeat steps 4 and 5.

And for successful internal storage backup, complete the following steps:

  1. In the bottom navigation bar, press ‘Settings’ and click ‘Backup and restore’.
  2. Choose ‘Internal storage backup’.
  3. Tapping the ‘Create backup’, all your notes will be zipped in the ‘Download folder’ named ‘AscendikBackup’.
  4. Send that files via bluetooth, gmail, drive etc. to the other phone in its ‘Download folder’.
  5. Enter the app on that other phone, and click ‘Restore’.
  • How does the auto-backup work?

First, you must enable this pro feature by tapping ‘Settings’ in the bottom navigation bar and then ‘Backup and restore’. Log into ‘Dropbox’ or ‘Google Drive’ and enable ‘Auto backup’. After every action (edit, save, or delete note), it automatically saves that current version of the notes. Have in mind that, for example, a deleted note from two auto backups ago won’t be saved. That is why we recommend manually backing up to ‘Google Drive’, ‘Dropbox’ or ‘Internal storage’ from time to time, in case you wish that old deleted note back.

  • How can I restore my notes from ‘Google Drive’ or ‘Dropbox’ on Android device?

If you have created a backup, you can retrieve all notes on any other device. In order to do that, you will need to use the same account you sign in for backup.

The following steps will show you how to restore your notes:

  1. In the bottom navigation bar, press ‘Settings’ and click ‘Backup and restore’.
  2. Click to ‘Google Drive’ or ‘Dropbox’ backup
  3. In this step, you will need to sign in to your ‘Google Drive’ or ‘Dropbox’ account.
  4. In the new window, choose the first option ‘Restore’
  5. This will open a new window with all the backups you created, named by date and time.
  6. Choose the backup you want to restore
  7. After a few seconds, a dialog will be shown where you click on the ‘Restore’ button.

Note: If you are already connected to your account, step 4 will be skipped. Only if you use option ‘Logout’, you will need to repeat step 4.

Warning! Be careful with the option ‘Delete backup data’! If you delete your backup data you can’t return notes anymore.

  • Missing the backed-up photos after the restore?

After the restore, you’ve noticed that your photos couldn’t be seen anymore? Try one of the following steps:

  1. If you did a backup & restore it on ‘Google Drive’, try it on ‘Dropbox’, or otherwise.
  2. Maybe the latest backup is too big, and your memory is full. Try some previous restores to see If the photos would appear.
  3. Delete all the backups from ‘Google Drive’ or ‘Dropbox’ and then back up the latest version of your notes on your old phone and restore it on your new phone.
  • Unable to Restore Purchase (Pro Upgrade) on other Android devices

If you made an in-app purchase in order to unlock the Free version on Android device, please continue reading.

If you have reinstalled an app, reset your Android device, or got a new Android device, you can regain access to the Pro Upgrade purchase you have made. To do this, ensure you sign in to ‘Google Play’ with the same Google account you used to buy ‘Quillio’ Pro Upgrade. Your in-app purchase is tied to your Google account. When you install the ‘Quillio’ app and launch it, the application should automatically query ‘Google Play’ and check for the in-app purchase you’ve made, restoring it for you.

However, the app may not immediately restore your purchase. You may have to wait several minutes for it to check or manually update Google Play by doing the following steps:

  1. Go to phone settings
  2. Go to ‘Apps’ or ‘Application manager’
  3. Scroll down, and press ‘Google Play Store’
  4. Tap on the menu button (3 dots in the top right corner), and then ‘Uninstall updates’
  5. Press the back arrow to return to the list of apps

  7. Go to ‘Storage’ and tap ‘Clear cache’
  8. Now again press the back arrow to return to the list of apps, find the ‘Quillio’ app, clear the cache like in the previous step, then go back and force stop the app
  9. Once you are done performing the step above, go back to the device’s home screen and relaunch the ‘Play Store’. Your ‘Play Store’ app should update to the latest version within a few minutes
  10. Tap on the menu button from within the ‘Play Store’ app and go to ‘Settings’. Scroll down until you see ‘Play Store Version’. Tap on that to check for an update
  11. Relaunch ‘Quillio’ app and check if you are facing the same issue
